Leadville

After heading north on Highway 24 out of Buena Vista riders will come to the historic town of Leadville. At 10,152 feet Leadville is the highest incorporated city in the continental Unites States and in the late 1800's, Leadville was the second most populous city in Colorado, after Denver. Today, Leadville is a destination for many tourists via the Leadville Historic District, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which preserves many historic structures and sites from Leadville's dynamic mining era.

Great viewing access for spectators through Leadville can be attained anywhere on Highway 24, Front Street, Harrison Ave., E. 9th Street, and Poplar Street. An exciting recommended vantage point is at the intersection of Harrison Ave. and 7th St. for Stage 1's final Sprint Line.

Racers will head through Leadville, down historic Harrison Ave. to Tennessee Pass where they will begin their journey up and over Tennessee Pass and Battle Mountain, home to the second King of the Mountain marker. Stunning views abound on Colorado's Scenic Byway Highway 24 between Leadville and Minturn for spectators.
