Being Colorado, weather can vary from town to town significantly based on each town's elevation and geographic location. High elevation towns like Vail, Leadville, Beaver Creek and Alma average highs in the 70's during the month of August while lower elevation towns like Buena Vista and Fairplay report highs typically in the 80's. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, but typically do not last long. Wait 10 minutes or drive to another town and you might find completely different weather patterns.
