I have a BA in architecture, with experience in Interior Design. The question is, would I need to qualify in order to become a professional interior designer?

don’t know about the UK but in the US once i completed my masters i took the exam in my state to obtain my PID license, i also hold a bachelors engineering degree but found interior design to be my calling and have owned and operated my own firm (very successful i may add)in NYC for 25+ yrs. now If that’s where your heart is follow your dream! I know I’m in the US but if i can assist you in any way i’d be glad to help

I am moving into a new home. The old residents covered the kitchen counters with apple themed Wall paper. I just simply want to cover it up; what kind of paint should I use?
I would strongly suggest you remove the old paper, it doesn’t stand up well and has a real tendency to bubble after it has been painted. You can rent steamers (looks kinda like a hair dryer) that will help you a lot in the paper removal. Once the wall is stripped , your best plan would be to prime it and then paint it, your paint store can help you with which type of primer and paint to use.
